Consistent life ethic today!
What is this? Isn’t a life ethic consistent?
Well it should be!
Consistent Life Ethic Today
A consistent life ethic today means all human existence is sacred. Duh! you may think. But the two main ideologies don’t adopt a consistent life ethic. This site gets into this in much more detail. That’s what I’m all about. What are the two major ideologies? The first one is the conservative ideology. Often known as the pro-life ideology, holders of this worldview often come off as more pro-birth and anti-abortion than consistently life-affirming. In this worldview, we focus on the unborn and the terminally ill or infirm. But we tend to not pay attention to the others. The liberal worldview, the second ideology, focuses on social justice issues but often doesn’t apply them to the unborn. This isn’t consistently pro-life!
Be Consistently Pro-Life
You can’t end abortion by railing against it. Yes, we must speak out against it. Don’t overdo the “in your face” tactic. Living in a home of pro-choice people, I can sympathize with their objections. Most pro-choice people share these objections. You’ve probably heard them. “So it’s okay to protect the unborn even if everyone else has to suffer?” “The pro-life movement is a bunch of well-to-do people telling us what to do.” “How can you be pro-life about abortion and not be prolife about women?” And much more. Of course, I see pro-lifers blast our opposition as evil, pro-death, cold, and more. Ignoring a group of people as human is an outrage. But so is focusing on one group and not paying attention to the rest.
